Marché bursts with historic charm, due to our location in America’s oldest public market. The French Market was first founded in 1791 on the banks of the Mississippi River and has remained a popular French Quarter destination ever since. Though the market has been built and rebuilt many times, significant sections include the Butchers’ Market, now home to the famous Café du Monde; the Bazaar Market, built by Joseph Abeilard, one of our nation’s first African-American architects; and the Cuisine Market, now home to Marché. All of the buildings run alongside Dutch Alley, a statue-lined pedestrian plaza also available for event rentals.
Before opening Marché, the building was carefully renovated to bring out its historic French Quarter charms. We hand-applied old-world Venetian plaster and restored the closed, unused balconies to their original open-air beauty. Marché is sure to sparkle during your next wedding or special event.
Marché is delighted to host either your reception-style gathering or a seated dinner. For seated dinners, the Ballroom can hold a maximum of 120 guests, and the Terrace room can hold a maximum of 50. For larger parties, the Ballroom and Terrace room can be combined to host a reception-style gathering of up to 300 guests, or a seated dinner of up to 180 guests.
Marché may also be combined with the historic Dutch Alley downstairs for cocktail receptions or to accommodate larger groups. All Dutch Alley Rentals are considered on a case by case basis.
